EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Deborah Meaden

Multi-Business Entrepreneur

Deborah is a highly successful business woman and one of the most popular and longest standing investors on the BBC’s Dragons' Den. At 19 Deborah launched her own glass and ceramics export company straight out of Business College and now has several successful businesses in the leisure and retail sector under her belt. Dragons’ Den further led her to invest and advise in all manner of businesses, leading to a wide ranging portfolio across a variety of sectors. Deborah supports ethical, fair practice both in business and in life, she’s actively involved in the WWF, Tusk Trust and the Marine Conservation Society. She speaks on topics such as leadership, change management and entrepreneurship.

Author, Keynote Speaker and former Merrill Lynch stockbroker, Mark Jeffries, has become a trusted adviser and communications consultant to some of the world’s largest corporations and agencies. Mark has interviewed many celebrities including Will Smith, Richard Branson, Bob Mueller, Serena Williams, Michael Phelps and Michael J. Fox. Mark has published two books: “What’s up with your Handshake?” and “The Art of Business Seduction” and regularly appears as an expert guest on NBC’s Today Show, Fox Business and BBC News.

CJ Rosenbaum

Legal Expert

CJ’s ability to help develop and protect brands from online counterfeiters grew from helping thousands of people and companies that sell products on Amazon. He helps brands develop their intellectual property rights and defends them against counterfeiters and ‘hijackers’. In addition to having thousands of pages of content and dozens of videos available for sellers online, CJ authored three Amazon specific legal books and has more on the way.

Jeremy Miller

Founder, Sticky Branding

Jeremy comes by his expertise honestly. After watching his family’s business nearly hit rock bottom, he was forced to take a hard look at the way the company was run and at their industry as a whole. Jeremy realised it wasn’t his company’s sales, people or marketing processes that were failing, it was the brand. This insight caused him to regroup, revamp, and rebrand the business. Within a year, the company turned the corner and rocketed into growth mode. And in 2013 he sold the business.

Tamara Lohan

CTO, Mr&Mrs Smith

Tamara is an entrepreneur and technology strategist. In 2002, she co-founded the boutique hotel travel specialists Mr & Mrs Smith and has since been responsible for evolving the company’s digital infrastructure. As CTO, she has overseen the development of in-house booking engines and proprietary availability-management systems, alongside the iOS app. Today, Smith operates from offices in London, New York, LA, Ibiza and Singapore, and has more than 1.5 million members worldwide. Tamara was awarded an MBE for services to the British travel industry in 2014, contributes as the Non-Executive Director for notonthehighstreet.com and acts as a mentor for a number of start-up enterprises, including Lux Fix and Inkpact.

Callum Campbell / Fedor Dzjuba

CEO / CTO, Linnworks

Callum joined Linnworks as CEO in 2017 and has since dedicated himself to creating a world-class experience for all Linnworks customers. With a background in eCommerce, Callum has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by online retailers and is focusing every aspect of Linnworks on helping people sell better.

Since founding Linn Systems back in 2008, Fedor has driven the company and its flagship product, Linnworks, towards being the most technologically advanced system of its kind. This technical edge is one of the crucial factors behind Linnworks being the success it is today.

Department of International Trade

Charlie works for the Department for international trade advising businesses of all shapes and sizes on breaking through traditional barriers to exporting overseas, using exciting digital channels. Charlie supports firms on digital marketing, search engine optimisation, social media, eCommerce best practice, mobile marketing, localisation, website analytics and data analysis. With a wealth of experience in the field, having previously worked with a range of private organisations on e-commerce and digital projects - leading on platform management, website building and optimisation for several international brands across Europe.

Jesse Wragg / Scott Galvao

International Marketplace Experts

Scott is a co-founder and a Managing Director of InterCultural Elements (ICE), helping retailers expand eCommerce sales internationally.  Scott’s life before InterCultural Elements included more than 6 years at AuktionMaster and ChannelAdvisor UK as an Implementation Manager, where he gained wide-ranging international eCommerce experience and know-how.  

Jesse is the head of sales at ICE and having lived in multiple countries away from his native England, is now based in Leipzig, Germany. With in-depth experience across the real estate, hospitality and eCommerce industries, Jesse offers a fresh approach to the world of international eCommerce.

Danny McMillan

International Amazon Expert

Danny is an international speaker on Amazon marketing optimisation and is an active ecommerce seller in the USA and Europe. He is a survivor of the former music industry and serial start up entrepreneur. For the last couple of years, he has focused on Amazon FBA and ranking. Danny has appeared on numerous podcasts along with contributing to industry bible Webretailer.com. Danny has been shared his ranking tips at The Smart China Sourcing Summit, The European Private Label Summit, The Private Label World Summit, and The Great Escape plus many more.

Today, Chris is co-editor of Tamebay and works on the site full time including writing, attending eCommerce events and conferences throughout the year and holding interviews for Tamebay TV. He also undertakes consulting assignments for companies wanting to fast-track their eBay sales.
John Lawson

John is a best-selling author,  recognised thought leader  and CEO of ColderIce Media. He was awarded Platinum Powerseller status by eBay and has generated millions through marketplace sales and social branding. John’s book, “Kick Ass Social Commerce for E-prenuers” was awarded Small Business Book of the year and he is celebrated as one of the Top 100 Small Business Influencers in America.
Tayyab Akhlaq
Director, Public Desire
Tayyab founded Public Desire with his brothers in 2014 and the brand has become a leading fashion-forward international retailer and industry innovator. When Public Desire first launched an Instagram channel, it was used as a way of building the brand and now has over one million followers. Tayyab has also worked as a consultant to many brands in all areas of eCommerce.
Dan Callaghan
CEO , CPL UK
Dan Callaghan is the founder and CEO of CPL, an online retail company which sells perfume and cosmetics across the world. He became interested in business and entrepreneurship when he was young, starting his online retail business while at University to help pay tuition fees. CPL now has seven employees and continues to develop sales processes around the globe.
